The weather has been kind to us so far this winter but despite the temperatures remaining a few degrees above freezing we still all need to take into account the effect the wind has on us while out training.

As you can see from the chart below even when doing some steady base miles at 15mph with an air temperature of 4 degrees the wind-chill factor on you is in fact -6 degrees! So no surprise we often get so cold when out on the bike. Then take into account that you’re riding into a 10mph headwind and now you’re down to -9 degrees. So always remember to take into account the wind-chill effect when deciding what to wear and hopefully your winter training rides will be a little more comfortable this year.
