Is there ever a right time?

To develop and excel as a cyclist it takes time.  Early on we often see rapid changes in a rider’s performance, and then as the months and years pass the physiological changes continue, but often at a slower rate, especially in highly trained athletes.

It can take up to 10 years for a rider to develop fully, in the first 5 years we see predominantly physical development and the later 5 years cognitive development, so it’s never too late or too early to start.

The 2024 season in the northern hemisphere is now underway so the opportunity to be at your best for an event this summer are more limited, but with the correct plan, with the appropriate amount of loading and recovery, designed around your specific events requirements, improvements can be made.

If you have never been coached before or followed a plan tailored for you and your event needs, then there is no better time to start.  With continuity of training time, support from your coach, you will get so much more from your training and events.

2020 into spring 2021 – Winter Cycling Training Classes with @ASCyclingCoach

To ensure I can still run my winter training classes in a safe environment for the riders I will this year be running these through the Zwift VR cycling app .

The classes are free of charge, it’s just your own Zwift monthly subs (£12.99) that you need to pay.  I know there are quite a few of you out there who like me have started using Zwift during lock down and hopefully these classes will prove to be a nice variation and challenge for you this winter.

So starting on the 4th October 2020 on a Wednesday evening at 18:30 I will be hosting classes for Stafford Road Club members and any of our cycling friends who may wish to join us.

The training classes will be organised as a group ride where all the riders will stay together and follow the same training schedule based on your own personal levels, so we ride and complete the sessions together as a team.

To make things more sociable we will also use the free Discord phone app so we can use this to talk to each other while riding.

These Zwift group rides we have run this year have proved really successful and the software is very simple to get to grips with.  So please let me know if you are interested in taking part by emailing me at ascoaching@outlook.com.  You are welcome to join the classes at any point this winter so do not worry if you miss the start on 4th Nov.  If you need any more info again please get in touch.

The best year yet for @ascyclingcoach riders

Another fabulous year for the @ascyclingcoach riders who have clocked up a very impressive list of achievements this year for themselves and their respective teams.  The 6 competitive riders have achieved the following: –

21 Course personal bests (pb’s)

14 Distance pb’s

9 Club championship awards

4 National championship medals

3 Regional championship trophies

Broken 3 club records

Set 1 new British record for the fastest ever women’s team to ride a 12hr Time Trial

A true reflection of how each have excelled this year.

There are a number of District competitions still to be awarded and I know by early in the New Year when the awards diners have all taken place the above list will grow bigger still.
